2021 was an unusually robust year for luxury home sales around the country, with low housing inventory and prices at all-time highs in part due to the COVID-19 pandemic and low mortgage rates. Locally, home prices finished 2021 with their eighth consecutive month of double-digit percentage increases, according to the
S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices. Chicagoland median single-family home values rose more than 12% in December, compared to the same period in 2020.
