Local Organizations Come Together for Chicago Neighborhood Cleanup

What do @properties and the Wu-Tang Clan have in common? An undeniable love for Chicago and giving back. Last month, @gives back partnered with Wu-Tang Foundation, the charitable arm of the world-renowned hip hop group, and Strides for Peace, a Chicago non-profit dedicated to ending gun violence and empowering community organizations, for the inaugural Chicago Neighborhood Cleanup event.

The event originated from three locations, representing four organizations on Chicago’s South Side: Kids Off The Block in West Roseland, Paving The Way Project in Washington Park, Target Area Development Corp., and The Faith Community of St. Sabina in Auburn Gresham. Volunteers worked together to pick up trash and clean up several streets and parking lots.

“Wu-Tang, Strides for Peace, and @properties are three organizations that share a commitment to love, innovation, making a positive impact, and building relationships within and between communities,” said @properties co-founder Thad Wong. “Through these beautification efforts, we hope to underscore the value in these neighborhoods while gaining a deeper understanding of the struggles that are often overlooked in our world.”

@gives back was established in 2009 by Wong and @properties co-founder Mike Golden. The non-profit foundation has devoted much of its fundraising efforts to supporting organizations that create opportunities within Chicago’s disadvantaged communities.

A big thank you to all of the volunteers and organizations that made the event possible!
