@ Loves Local is Heading Somewhere Sweet; Sweet Ali’s Gluten Free Bakery!

@properties and Proper Rate are excited to be bringing @ Loves Local to a Hinsdale favorite, Sweet Ali’s Gluten-Free Bakery, on Wednesday, October 13th! Having recently celebrated its 11-year anniversary, it’s clear that Sweet Ali’s has become a staple among the community as well as over 150 retail and restaurant locations throughout Chicagoland. Owner Ali Graeme embarked on this sweet adventure after finding out that both she and her son were diagnosed with celiac disease. We love her positive outlook and her dedication to creating treats that can be enjoyed by all.

What inspired you to open Sweet Ali’s?

Ali Graeme: My son [was] diagnosed with celiac disease in 2007. Just a few weeks later I learned that I also had celiac. Rather than dwell on the negative of our diagnosis, I decided to channel my energies into something positive for my son and me. Having just retired from the financial world, I decided to pursue my passion for baking by developing amazing-tasting gluten-free baked goods. With encouragement from my family and friends, I started Sweet Ali’s Gluten-Free Bakery in April 2009, dedicated to creating the most delicious gluten-free products that all those sugaring from a gluten intolerance would enjoy, as well as those not affected by gluten, would also enthusiastically embrace.

Was there anything in particular that drew you to the Hinsdale area?

I lived in Hinsdale, so opening a bakery where I lived was very convenient. But more than that, Hinsdale is a wonderful community that embraced the bakery. We are so lucky to be located in such a supportive town.

You have a variety of cupcake flavors. What are a few of your standouts? We’re excited about the Salted Caramel and Cookies & Cream cupcakes!

AG: We have cupcakes that are available every day as well as specialty cupcake flavors that we rotate throughout the year. From our daily cupcakes, Salted Caramel and Red Velvet are very popular. For those that also have to be dairy-free, our Cookies & Cream cupcake is a favorite. From our specialty cupcakes, Tiramisu and Peanut Butter Crunch are very popular.
